![]() | A New Track Available for Computer Science MajorsExploring the art as well as the science of software developmentThe Software Studio track will be available beginning in the Fall of 2008. The purpose of this track is to give students experience in software development on long-term projects for real-world use. Though Taylor has a history of working on such project with missions agencies and corporations,it is very difficult to develop these projects within existing "traditional" courses. This track will allow students to work on projects as for of a 4 credit hour course during each of their last 4 semesters at Taylor. Each course will also have an associated seminar where faculty will lead students in connecting the experiential learning with material taught in other courses and with professional development practices that are not covered in traditional courses due to time constraints. While we do not yet have committed projects for next year, we are exploring options with campus IT, various missions agencies and at least three corporations. In recent years, we have done projects (similar to the ones in line for Software Studio) with Wycliffe Bible Translators, HCJB Global, Crescent Project and New Tribes Mission. |
